One man’s trash is another man’s treasure and storage units are the best thing that fits in this definition. Well, its not trash but it becomes trash when people don’t pay rent for their storage unit or if don’t come back to claim or people die and don’t name it to another one. Storage units are auctions for hundreds of dollars and if the purchasers are lucky, they might get some very valuable things. People also come from long distances to get the storage units also these purchasers dig down each and every detail of the owner who owned it like; was the owner rich, what business or job he/she had etc. With this information it is easy to decide that either buying the person’s storage unit will be worthy or not.
Other than valuables buyers also found weird things in storage units. Believe it or not, a man purchased a smoker for barbecuing with his family for some bucks and when the table was set and he lifted the lid, he found an actual human leg inside it. It was owned by a person who lost his storage unit when he couldn’t pay the rent and he put it there. He lost his leg in a plane crash. The buyer gave to the police which then someone put in show piece and showed it to kids for $1. This was just a leg, but someone actually preserved a human body in a storage unit.
This was done by a woman, when her mother died, she was to take her body from the old age house and burry it but according to her, they met a storm and she had to put the body in the storage unit. But according to her ex-boyfriend, she was very much attached to her mother and couldn’t face the fact that she is gone and put her there. But people also found many other things, a man bought a storage unit for $100 and when he opened it, he found an old model car. But when he investigated about the car and showed to different car collectors, this happened to be an actual submarine car which was operated by James Bond in the movie, ‘the spy who loved me’. That car was auctioned by everyone and after some years it was purchased by Tesla founder, Elon Musk for more than $1 million.
You must be amused to read that dead people and their parts were found in the storage units but people have also found actual living people inside the storage units. It is almost impossible to break into a storage unit site or in any unit for that matter but in 2012, a burglar made a good plan and finally got in. And when he was about to fill the bags, the security guard crossed by and saw the door was open. He locked down the shutter, trapping the robber inside and later the police were called and he was arrested.
